Championship Information and Conditions of Competition

Stone BridgeThe Trans-Mississippi Championship is open to male amateur golfers with an official USGA handicap not exceeding 5.4 under the USGA Golf Handicap System and are members of Trans-Mississippi Golf Association member clubs.  The Trans-Mississippi Golf Association reserves the right to issue special invitations to amateur players of national and international reputation who meet the age restrictions for both the Championship and Senior Divisions.  The number of players assigned to each Division and whether an entrant is accepted into either Division is the sole responsibility of the TMGA.  Deadline for entry is June 4, 2010.  Any player issued a special invitation to participate (waiving the TMGA member club requirement), must be accepted by April 15, 2010 and submit their entry form and fee by May 15, 2010 in order to be assured a position in the starting field (for either Division).

Rules of Play

The Rules of Golf established by the USGA and published in the Rules of Golf booklet for 2010-11 shall be in effect, including those special conditions or local rules established by the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association for this championship.  Any notice or condition stated in the entry form shall also apply.

Championship Division

Entrants in the Championship Division must have attained the age of 19 years or older on or before July 13, 2010, have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 2.0 and be a member of Trans-Mississippi Golf Association member club (membership requirement is waived for those entrants receiving a special invitation from the Committee).  Entrants younger than 19 years as of July 13, 2010 may participate in the championship if duly invited by the Committee.  The championship will be individual stroke play contested over 54-holes.  The Committee may shorten the competition in the event of inclement weather.  A sudden-death play-off will be conducted in the event of a tie.  All contestants in the Championship Division must walk during all stipulated rounds (including the official practice round).  Caddies are permitted at the player’s expense.  The Championship Division will be limited to 84 players.  There will be no cut.  

Senior Division

Entrants in the Senior Division must have attained the age of 55 years or older on or before July 13, 2010, have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 4.0 and be a member of Trans-Mississippi Golf Association member club (membership requirement is waived for those entrants receiving a special invitation from the Committee).  The championship will be individual stroke play contested over 54-holes.  The Committee may shorten the competition in the event of inclement weather.  A sudden-death play-off will be conducted in the event of a tie.  Motorized transportation is permitted for both player and caddie during all rounds for the Senior Division (at the player’s expense).  Caddies are also permitted at the player’s expense.  The Senior Division will be limited to 60 players.  There will be no cut.

Entry Procedure

1. All entries must be submitted on the Official Entry Form. Incomplete or inaccurate entry forms will not be accepted.
2. Entry applications must reach the TMGA prior to 4:00 pm, Friday, June 4, 2010.
3. The entry fee of $275.00 ($375.00 for Senior Division) via check or money order payable to the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association) must accompany each entry.  NO REFUNDS after the entrant has been assigned a position in the starting field.
4. Entrants will be notified if they have been assigned a position in either Division on or before Wednesday, June 9, 2010.  If the number of entries received exceeds available spots, a waiting list will be created.  Spots in the starting field will be offered to entrants on the wait list through July 9, 2010.
5. All entry fee checks will be deposited when received by the TMGA.  If an entrant is not offered a position in the starting field by July 9, 2010, a full refund will be made by July 30, 2010.

Practice Round

Denver Country Club will be available for a practice round on Monday, July 12, 2010.  Confirmed entrants must call (785) 842-0155 or email golf@trans-miss.com prior to July 2, 2010 to request a practice round starting time, otherwise, practice rounds will be available only after on-site registration.  A practice round is not guaranteed. 

No practice shorts on course permitted and only one ball played.  For the Senior Division, the use of a motorized cart is permitted during all rounds of the championship at the player’s expense.  Championship Division contestants must walk during all rounds (a caddie may be used at the player’s expense).

Groupings and starting times for Rounds One and Two will be posted at www.trans-miss.com and at the club on or before Monday, July 12, 2010.

Tournament Schedule

Monday, July 12 – Required Player Registration, Practice Round, Players’ Reception & Banquet

Tuesday, July 13 – Round One, 18 holes individual stroke play

Wednesday, July 14 – Round Two, 18 holes individual stroke play

Thursday, July 15 – Round Three, 18 holes individual stroke play

 

Contestant Information

Conduct

In the best interest of the competition, “unbecoming conduct or behavior” will not be tolerated.  Entries are subject to rejection at any time either before or during competition.  Participants are also requested to observe host club rules and keep in mind that you are a guest of the club as well as a representative of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association.

Players’ Reception and Banquet

A players’ dinner will be held at the club following play on Monday, July 12.  Spouses/guests may attend with pre-payment of $25.00 to the TMGA.   Attire is business casual (jacket is requested for gentlemen).

Carts

All contestants in the Championship Division must walk during all stipulated rounds (including the official practice round).  Caddies are permitted at the player’s expense.

Motorized transportation is permitted for both player and caddie during all rounds for the Senior Division (at the player’s expense).  Caddies are also permitted at the player’s expense.

Dress Code

Players must be properly attired in collared shirts and shorts or slacks.  Shirts must have a collar and tail tucked-in.  Shorts are permitted, but must be no more than 3 inches above the knee.  No denim of any color.  Competitors are expected to be neat in appearance and personal grooming.  Softspiked golf shoes will be required.  This dress code applies at all times that the contestant is at Denver Country Club.

Accommodations

A limited number of guest homes are available for Championship Division contestants only.  Please make your written request via email to golf@trans-miss.com by May 29, 2010.  Confirmation will come from the TMGA office by June 20, 2010.  Hotel accommodations and player rates are available at the following hotels.  Tournament participants must call before June 21, 2010 to reserve a room at the preferred rates.  You must identify yourself as a Trans-Miss participant when making the arrangements.

Food and Beverage at Denver Country Club

The entry fee includes four meals (breakfast or lunch) at Denver Country Club during the four days of the championship.  Meal tickets will be issued to each contestant at on-site registration.  Additional tickets may be purchased from the TMGA for $15 each.  Alcohol and sodas are at the players’ expense.

The entry fee also includes the Players’ Welcome Reception and Banquet on Monday, July 12 at Denver Country Club.  Guests/spouses may attend with pre-payment of $25 to the TMGA.
