Please read the entire memo upon receipt as there are some items that may require action on your part prior to your arrival at Denver Country Club.

In the event you must withdraw from the event, your earliest possible notification to the TMGA will be appreciated.  Use the above email address or phone number.  No refunds will be made at this point.

Cut-off date for this rate is June 21st.  You must identify yourself as a Trans-Miss participant when making the arrangements.

A limited number of private housing accommodations are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Contact the tournament chairman, Gary Potter, for more information and assistance.  gpotter@mho.com.

Contestant Registration:  MANDATORY contestant registration will be held on Monday, July 12th   from 7:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. at Denver Country Club in the lower level of the clubhouse in the foyer outside the golf shop.  You must register prior to your practice round.  If you do not plan to arrive at the club until Tuesday, July 13th, please notify the tournament Committee of your late arrival. 

At the registration you will receive player gifts, updated event information and have the opportunity to sign the contestants’ appreciation scroll.  The registration will take you 5 to 15 minutes depending on the number of other contestants involved in the process when you arrive.

Practice Round:  A complimentary practice round is available to registered Trans-Miss contestants on Monday, July 12th.   The starting times will be from 7:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  In order to obtain a practice round starting time you must contact the TMGA office via email golf@trans-miss.com or phone (785) 842-0155 prior to July 2nd).  Do not call the Denver Country Club golf shop, as they have been instructed to refer you to the TMGA office. 

If you do not reserve a practice round time prior to your registration, you will be assigned a practice round starting time at the time of your registration, if a space is available.  Participants in the senior division only that choose to use a golf cart must pay for it in the club golf shop prior to your practice round.  Single-player carts will be avoided when possible.  Caddies are also available throughout the championship at the player’s expense.  Contact the golf shop at (303) 733-2444 to reserve a caddie.

As a courtesy to your fellow competitors, limit your practice to the play of one golf ball at any hole. 

Format:  The 107th Trans-Mississippi Championship is a 54-hole stroke play event with two divisions.  The Championship Division is open to players of all age.  If necessary, a sudden death play-off to determine the overall champion will occur.  The play-off holes will be determined by the Committee.  The Senior Division is open to players age 55 or older as of July 13th.  If necessary, a sudden death play-off to determine the overall champion will occur.  The play-off holes will be determined by the Committee. 

Schedule of Events:

Monday, July 12th – Practice Round (7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. starting times, which should be obtained from the TMGA office before July 2nd).
Tuesday, July 13th – Round One stroke play.  Starting times from #1 and #10 tees at 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 14th – Round Two stroke play.  Starting times from #1 and #10 tees at 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
Thursday, July 15th – Round Three stroke play.  Starting times from #1 and #10 tees at 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Players Food & Beverage:  At player registration, players will be issued four (4) meal tickets good for either breakfast or lunch during the championship.  Breakfast (beginning at 6:00 a.m. daily) and lunch will be available at the club daily.  Players can purchase additional meal tickets for $15.00 each from the TMGA during player registration (cash only).  Alcohol and soda are at the player’s expense.

Contestants’ Banquet: 
The Board of Directors of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association invites all contestants (and spouses/guests may attend with pre-payment) to attend a reception at Denver Country Club on Monday, July 12th.  Hale Irwin, former U.S. Open champion, will be our invited guest and speak following dinner.  The cocktail reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. and dinner served at 6:45 p.m.  A sports jacket and tie are requested attire.  As a courtesy to the Committee, please inform the TMGA office by July 6th if you know that you will NOT attend this function or if you know that your spouse WILL attend this function.  Spouses/guests must submit pre-payment of $25 to the TMGA prior to July 1st (1201 Wakarusa Drive, Suite B5, Lawrence, KS  66049).

Groupings and Starting Times:  Round One and Round Two (stroke play qualifying) groupings and starting times will be determined and published on or before July 9th and may be viewed on the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association website (www.trans-miss.com).  Special requests must be submitted in writing to the TMGA office prior to July 1st.  No changes will be made in the groupings and starting times after they are published to the website.

Withdrawal:  In the event you must withdraw from the Championship prior to July 6th, please contact the TMGA office either by email (golf@trans-miss.com) or phone (785-842-0155).  From July 6th through the Championship, please call (913) 568-6089 (TMGA cell phone).  No refund is available.

Dress Code:  Contestants will comply with the provisions of the host club policy.  Shirts must have a collar and sleeves, shorts are permitted if no shorter than 2” from top of the knee (no denim).  Shirt tails must be tucked inside pants.  Cargo shorts or pants are not allowed.  Headwear, caps and visors shall be worn with bills positioned forward (must be removed upon entering the clubhouse).  Approved golf shoes are required (no metal spikes). Changing of clothes and footwear is allowed only in the locker rooms.

Payment for Purchases:  Credit cards or cash can be used for payment.  Players age 21 and older will be issued a Denver Country Club guest card with an individual account number.  Purchases may be placed on that account, which will be billed by the host club to the player following the championship.  This bill will be mailed to the address provided on your entry form.  Your cooperation is requested by making your payment to the club upon receipt of the billing.  Players under age 21 will not have a personal charge account.

Cell Phones:  Cell phone and PDA usage is not permitted anywhere on club property except in telephone booths and in the parking lot from within an automobile.  Complimentary usage of club land lines are provided throughout the clubhouse, as well as the golf course.  The use of a cell phone during a stipulated round may be deemed unbecoming conduct and the player subject to removal from the championship.

Caddies:  Denver Country Club has a large corps of caddies available.  If you wish to employ one of these caddies, please contact the club to make those arrangements in advance.  (303) 733-2444.  The cost of caddies is at the player’s expense.  Pull/push carts are not allowed at Denver Country Club.

Golf Spikes: Metal golf spikes are prohibited.  Penalty for breach: disqualification.

Carts:  Players in the Championship Division are required to walk during all rounds of the championship, including the practice round.  Caddies are available through the host club or players may provide their own caddie.  Pull/push carts are not allowed at Denver Country Club.  Players in the Senior Division may use a cart or caddie for each round of the championship at the expense of the player.  No shuttles are provided.  A caddie may drive his player’s cart, or he may ride in the cart.   Spectators may ride in a player’s cart, but if the spectator drives the cart, he would be deemed to be the player’s caddie (See Rule 6-4).  Individual spectator carts will not be available.

Driving Range and Practice Facilities: The practice range will be open at 6:30 a.m. each day.  Range balls are for players only and are complimentary.  Post round practice must be done either at the short game area or the putting green.   The practice range is available each day PRIOR to your round only.

Locker Room & Club Storage:  The clubhouse and locker room open each day at 6:00 a.m.  Check with the golf shop if club storage is needed.  The locker room is available for restroom and shower facilities.  There will be a limited number of lockers available.  Players will be directed to the locker room staff for assistance.

Electronic Measuring Devices:  Devices that measure distance are permissible in events conducted by the TMGA, however, if during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure a condition that might affect his play, is a breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification.
