Championship Information and Conditions of Competition

This Championship is open to male amateur golfers who are members of regular member clubs belonging to the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association, and are age 25 or older as of September 13, 2010.  The players of a team are not required to be members of the same club but must be members of a TMGA member club.  Combined team handicap index may not exceed 8.0.

The Senior Division is open to male amateur golfers of regular member clubs belonging to the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association, and are age 55 or older as of September 13, 2010.  The players of a team are not required to be members of the same club but must be members of a TMGA member club.  Combined team handicap index may not exceed 10.0.

All applications are subject to approval or rejection by the TMGA at any time before or after start of championship.

Entrants will be selected by the TMGA Tournament Committee on the basis of past playing performances, past participation and contributions to the Trans-Mississippi Turf Scholarship Fund.

IMPORTANT: The championship field will be limited to 120 teams (72 championship, 48 senior)

Rules of Play

The Rules of Golf established by the USGA and published in the Rules of Golf booklet for 2010-11 shall be in effect, including those special conditions or local rules established by the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association for this championship. Any notice or condition stated in the entry form shall also apply.

 

Entry Procedure

1. All entries must be submitted on the Official Entry Form.  Incomplete or inaccurate entry forms will not be accepted.
2. Entry applications must reach the TMGA prior to 4:00 p.m., August 2, 2010.
3. The entry fee of $1,800.00 (check or money order payable to the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association) must accompany each entry.
4. Entrants will be notified if their entry is accepted on or before August 6, 2010.
5. If a team withdraws before the entry deadline, the entry fee will be returned.  No refunds will be given after the entry deadline to a team accepted to the championship starting field.

 

Practice Round

Pinehurst Resort course (#4 and 8 only) will be available for a practice round on Sunday, September 12, 2010 beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Players are entitled to only one (1) complimentary practice round.  It is advisable to make tee times for your practice round in advance as your preferred practice round course may become unavailable.  Pinehurst Resort course # 2 is not available for the official practice round.  Beginning August 3rd, confirmed entrants can contact the TMGA office to request a practice round starting time by email: golf@trans-miss.com or by phone: (785) 842-0155 ext. 203.
 

Tournament Schedule

Sunday, September 12th - Practice Round (courses #4 and 8 only) beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Monday, September 13th - Round One
Tuesday, September 14th - Round Two 
Wednesday, September 15th - Round Three

 

Format and Starting Times

Play will be Four-Ball stroke play with a maximum of 72 teams in the Championship Division and a maximum 48 teams in the Senior Division. There will NOT be a cut for the championship in 2010.  Each team will play one round on each of the following Pinehurst Resort courses (#2, 4 and 8).  The order of play will be determined after the close of entries.  The final round will NOT be a shotgun start.  Tee times will begin at 7:30 am each day.  Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.

 

Contestant Information

Conduct

In the best interest of the competition, “unbecoming conduct or behavior” will not be tolerated.  Entries are subject to rejection at any time either before or during competition.  Participants are also requested to observe host club rules and keep in mind that you are a guest of the club as well as a representative of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association.

  

Players’ Reception and Dinner

A players’ dinner will be held at The Carolina Hotel at Pinehurst Resort following play on Monday, September 13th.  Spouses/guests are welcome.  Attire is business casual (jacket is requested for gentlemen).

 

Carts

Carts are included for all rounds of the championship as part of the entry fee.  Caddies are available, but at an additional cost to be paid by the player/team.

 

Dress Code

Players must be properly attired in collared shirts and shorts or slacks.  Shirts must have a collar and tail tucked-in.  Shorts are permitted, but must be no more than 3 inches above the knee.  No denim of any color.  Competitors are expected to be neat in appearance and personal grooming.  Softspiked golf shoes will be required.  For the players’ reception on Monday night, gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket (but tie is optional).

 

Accommodations

The Carolina Hotel at Pinehurst Resort will be the host hotel.  The TMGA preferred rate is $230/night single occupancy or $250/night double occupancy.  Breakfast is included daily for players staying at The Carolina Hotel.  A hotel reservation request form will be sent out to teams once their entry has been confirmed.
