Player Information & Schedule

 

Please read the entire memo upon receipt as there are some items that may require action on your part prior to your arrival at Pinehurst Resort.

In the event you must withdraw from the event, your earliest possible notification to the TMGA will be appreciated.  Use the above email address or phone number.  No refunds will be made at this point.

Air & Transportation:  Raleigh-Durham International is the most accessible airport to the Pinehurst Resort (74 miles from airport to Pinehurst Resort).  Airport transportation is offered starting at $50 per person one way.  Call (910) 235-8410 for reservations, which should be made at least 48 hours in advance.  Once you’re at Pinehurst, the in-house transportation team offers complimentary shuttle service within the resort property.   With a US or Canadian drivers license, you may also enjoy use of a complimentary vehicle.  Vehicles can be reserved on-site at our Resort Services desk.  Round three of the championship will not be a shotgun start.  Plan your departure flight time accordingly. 

Lodging:  The TMGA has a guaranteed rate at the following hotels near Pinehurst Resort.

TMGA player rate – $230/single or $250/double per night (includes daily breakfast)

Cut-off date for this rate is August 13, 2010.  You must identify yourself as a Trans-Miss participant when making the arrangements.  The best method to make your reservations is to use the room reservation form provided by the Trans-Miss office.  This form must be filled out and submitted to the Pinehurst Resort office.  The hotel form can be downloaded via the TMGA website, www.trans-miss.com/four-ball. 

Contestant Registration:  Required contestant registration will be held on Sunday, September 12th from 9:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. in the Dogwood Room at the Resort Club.  You must register prior to your practice round.  If you do not plan to arrive at the club until Monday, September 13th, please notify the tournament Committee of your late arrival. 

At the registration you will receive player gifts, updated event information and have the opportunity to sign the contestants’ appreciation scroll.  The registration will take you 5 to 15 minutes depending on the number of other contestants involved in the process when you arrive.

Practice Round:  A complimentary practice round is available to registered Trans-Miss contestants on Sunday, September 12th.   The practice round starting times will be from 11:00 a.m. until 3:40 p.m. on Pinehurst Resort courses #4 and #8 only.  Official practice rounds are not available on Pinehurst Resort course #2.  In order to obtain a practice round starting time you must contact the TMGA office via email golf@trans-miss.com or phone (785) 842-0155 prior to September 1st).  Do not call the Pinehurst Resort golf shops, as they have been instructed to refer you to the TMGA office. 

If you do not reserve a practice round time prior to your registration, you will be assigned a practice round starting time at the time of your registration, if a space is available.  Carts are included for the practice round as part of your entry fee.  Caddies are also available throughout the championship at the player’s expense ($50 per loop per bag plus tip (recommended at $25 per bag minimum).  Contact the Pinehurst Resort caddie master, Jimmy Smith, to reserve a caddie.  caddiemaster@pinehurst.org or (910) 235-8149.

As a courtesy to your fellow competitors, please limit your practice to the play of one golf ball at any hole. 

Format:  The 30th Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship is a 54-hole four-ball stroke play event with three divisions.  The Championship Division is open to player’s age 25 years or older.  If necessary, a sudden death play-off to determine the overall champion will occur.  The play-off holes will be determined by the Committee.  The Senior Division is open to players age 55 or older as of September 13th.  The Super Senior Division is open to players age 70 or older as of September 13th.  If necessary, a sudden death play-off to determine the overall champion will occur.  The play-off holes will be determined by the Committee. 

Pinehurst Resort courses #2, 4 and 8 will be used for the championship.  Each team will play one championship round on each of the courses.  The order of play will be determined after the entry deadline.

Schedule of Events:

Sunday, September 12th – Practice Round (11:00 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. starting times on Pinehurst Resort courses #4 and #8 only.  Practice round times must be obtained from the TMGA office before September 1st.).

Monday, September 13th – Round One four-ball stroke play.  Starting times from #1 tee only at 7:30 a.m. on Pinehurst Resort courses #2, 4 and 8.

Tuesday, September 14th – Round Two four-ball stroke play.  Starting times from #1 tee only at 7:30 a.m. on Pinehurst Resort courses #2, 4 and 8.

Wednesday, September 15th – Round Three four-ball stroke play.  Starting times from #1 tee only at 7:30 a.m. on Pinehurst Resort courses #2, 4 and 8.  Round three will NOT be a shotgun start.


Players Food & Beverage
: A full breakfast buffet is included in the daily hotel rate for players staying at The Carolina Hotel.  All other food and beverage purchases can be charged to your hotel room or paid via credit card or cash.

Contestants’ Banquet:  The Board of Directors of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association invites all contestants (and spouses/guests) to attend a reception at the Cardinal Ballroom at The Carolina Hotel on Monday, September 13th.  The cocktail reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. and dinner served at 7:15 p.m.  Attire is business casual.  As a courtesy to the Committee, please inform the TMGA office by September 1st if you know that you will NOT attend this function or if you know that your spouse WILL attend this function.

Groupings and Starting Times:  Groupings and starting times for all rounds of the championship will be determined and published on or before September 12th and may be viewed on the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association website (www.trans-miss.com) and at the Pinehurst Resort clubhouses.  Special requests must be submitted in writing to the TMGA office prior to August 15th.  No changes will be made in the groupings and starting times after they are published to the website.

Withdrawal:  In the event you must withdraw from the Championship prior to September 1st, please contact the TMGA office either by email (golf@trans-miss.com) or phone (785-842-0155).  From September 1st through the Championship, please call (913) 568-6089 (TMGA cell phone).  No refund is available.

Dress Code:  Contestants will comply with the provisions of the host club policy.  Shirts must have a collar and sleeves, shorts are permitted if no shorter than 2” from top of the knee (no denim).  Shirt tails must be tucked inside pants.  Cargo shorts or pants are not allowed.  Headwear, caps and visors shall be worn with bills positioned forward (must be removed upon entering the clubhouse).  Approved golf shoes are required (no metal spikes). Changing of clothes and footwear is allowed only in the locker rooms. 

Payment for Purchases:  Championship participants staying at a Pinehurst Resort hotel property may charge items back to his room account.  Credit cards or cash can also be used for payment. 

Cell Phones: 
During any practice or championship rounds, please do not use your cellular phone.  Please keep it in silent mode.

Golf Spikes: Metal golf spikes are prohibited.  Penalty for breach: disqualification.

Driving Range and Practice Facilities: The practice range will be open at 6:40 a.m. each day.  Range balls are for players only and are complimentary.  The practice facilities will close each day at 4:30 p.m.

Locker Room & Club Storage:  No lockers will be available, but players will have access to all player facilities within the Resort Club and the clubhouse at course #8.  Club storage will be provided by Pinehurst Resort, including transportation from the Resort Club and course #8.

Electronic Measuring Devices:  Devices that measure distance are permissible in events conducted by the TMGA, however, if during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure a condition that might affect his play, is a breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification.
